Matthew has a strong combination of trial and appellate experience. Following law school, Matthew worked as a criminal appellate attorney at the Tenth Judicial Circuit Public Defender in Bartow, Florida. There, he had the opportunity to fight for clients in their appeals that were made to the Second District Court of Appeal. The appeals often concerned important criminal and procedural issues. His favorite published opinion in a case that he won is A.P. v. State, 250 So. 3d 799 (Fla. 2d DCA 2018), which concerned the improper admission of a confession at trial. The case has been cited in other Florida opinions and practice treatises. Over the last several years, Matthew has focused his practice on civil litigation. He previously served as Staff Counsel for GEICO and Staff Counsel for Midland Credit Management, Inc., where he gained valuable experience defending and prosecuting civil suits.

Matthew is a Tampa Bay Lightning fan. He greatly enjoys going to Lightning home games. He looks forward to the Lightning winning another Stanley Cup this year. He enjoys history and reading old Supreme Court opinions. He enjoys spending time with his dogs, being outdoors, and going on bike rides in his neighborhood.
