Summer Law Clerk Program
Every summer, Lydecker hires law students who have completed their first and second years of law school to clerk in our offices in Florida, New Jersey, and California. The Summer Law Clerk Program in most offices begins mid-May and runs through the end of July.
Each Law Clerk is assigned to a practice group and a mentor for the summer. These mentors offer instruction, feedback on assignments, assimilation into the firm, and encouragement throughout the summer. The summer Law Clerk will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of legal research and writing assignments, including drafting answers, motions, discovery, and might be invited to attend a deposition, mediation, court hearing, or trial.
Our goal with our Summer Law Clerk Program is to provide each law student as much exposure as possible to the real-world practice of civil defense litigation and to allow this experience to serve as a stepping-stone for possible employment with our firm post-graduation.
We Aren’t All Work and No Play!
At Lydecker, we work hard – but we also know how to relax! During the summer, Law Clerks will participate in several social and engaging activities. Past events have included volunteering for local charities, family cookouts, happy hours, boating with Richard Lydecker, bowling, attending professional sporting events, and the Firm’s Annual Beach Buzz.

This summer, I had the privilege of participating in Lydecker’s summer clerkship program. From day one, I was impressed by the firm’s commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment. Partners and associates weren’t just supervisors, they were also mentors, readily available to offer guidance and share their legal expertise. Hi All,
I’m excited to share my experience working at Lydecker. The support and hands-on experience I’ve gained have been incredibly valuable, and I’m truly grateful for everyone’s guidance and feedback.
This summer, I gained a real-life understanding of being an attorney, far beyond what I learned in a law school classroom. I drafted motions, including summary judgment, conducted legal research, summarized med chrons, and attended one of my first depositions. Each assignment was a stepping stone in my learning experience, providing a deeper understanding of the legal profession.
Working with Stephanie and Paola has been great. They’ve been very understanding, approachable, and easy to communicate with. They explained every task and process clearly, making it easier for me to understand expectations. The team has also been incredibly supportive and always ready to help with any questions I had. All the associates have been extremely helpful, sharing their insights and tips from their experiences. The feedback I received from the team has been important in helping me understand my strengths and areas for improvement, and I appreciate them taking the time to provide it. Everyone has been great and fun, creating an enjoyable work environment and fostering a sense of belonging.
