With experience in federal and state court litigation in trademark licensing issues, trademark infringement, trade dress infringement, trademark dilution, false advertising, trade secret and copyright infringement, our IP department is well qualified to handle a wide range of intellectual property and technology matters, from investigation through trial.
Our IP department also handles the preparation and filing of all registrations, oppositions, and post-registration documents, oppose and petition to cancel third-party applications and registrations similar to our clients’ trademarks.

Intellectual Property Team
Mr. Johnson specializes in the representation of professionals, corporations and insurers in a broad range of business and tort matters, including employment claims, environmental claims and other complex actions. Mr. Johnson also has experience litigating government municipal matters throughout the state of Florida, as well as representing journalists and media companies in intellectual property and defamation litigation. Mr. Johnson’s practice also includes the defense of attorneys, accountants and real estate professionals in professional liability matters and non-profit corporations as well as their directors and officers in a range of matters.
Before joining Lydecker, Mr. Johnson began his career as an associate in the Miami office of a business litigation boutique headquartered in New York, where he represented banking and corporate interests in multiple international business and commercial disputes. Mr. Johnson is also an experienced and accomplished appellate attorney, having multiple published Federal and Florida opinions, as well as oral arguments and appellate mediations across multiple appellate courts.
In addition to his professional commitments, Mr. Johnson recognizes his responsibility to serve the community. He is a member of the 100 Black Men of South Florida, one of the leading youth mentoring organizations in the country, as well as the Miami-Dade County Black Affairs Advisory Board. He is also a director of BAC Funding Corp. a non-profit state funded lender for disadvantaged business. He is also Secretary of the Coppin State University Development Foundation which raises money for scholarships to his alma mater, Coppin State University. He also Serves as Vice Chair of the Miami-Dade School District Audit and Budget Committee. He has also served as a member of the Executive Board of the Miami-Dade Chapter of NAACP and the Polemarch (President) of the Richmond-Perrine (FL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Lauren K. Kim, a Senior Associate in Lydecker’s Los Angeles office, specializes in handling complex civil litigation for individuals and businesses of all sizes in both California state and federal courts.
With a robust background in various areas of law, Ms. Kim represents clients throughout all stages of litigation. Her expertise encompasses general tort litigation, business disputes, premises liability, product liability, personal injury, commercial accidents, contractual issues, employment disputes, and alternative dispute resolution.
Ms. Kim is dedicated to vigorously advocating for her clients both inside and outside the courtroom. She is known for her commitment to delivering cost-effective and innovative legal solutions tailored to the unique needs of each client. Her client-focused approach and meticulous attention to detail have consistently led to successful outcomes through pre-litigation negotiations, dispositive motions, and settlement discussions in both state and federal courts.
Before joining Lydecker, Ms. Kim honed her litigation skills at law firms in Los Angeles County, where she represented a diverse range of clients—including insurance companies, amusement parks, retailers, restaurants, and transportation companies—throughout the entire litigation process, from initial filing to final resolution.
Andrea is a trial lawyer in Lydecker’s Los Angeles and Newport Beach and concentrates her practice in product liability matters and business litigation. She has served as national counsel for an elevator/escalator manufacturer and a coatings manufacturer and serves as regional counsel for other product manufacturers. She regularly represents clients in high-stakes litigation in state and federal courts throughout the country and has tried cases to successful verdicts in both state and federal courts.
Andrea utilizes her experience to create strategies to defend the products in catastrophic injury litigation and to convey highly technical issues in an easily understandable manner. Andrea’s ability to understand clients’ businesses and products has made her a trusted advisor to multiple clients who regularly trust her to handle some of their most significant matters.
Since 2018, Andrea has been recognized a number of times as a Rising Star ® by Thomson Reuters. When Andrea is not practicing law, she enjoys surfing and attending Lakers basketball games.
