The Miami Downtown Development Authority Appoints Richard Lydecker of Lydecker as Member of its Board of Directors

The Miami Downtown Development Authority (Miami DDA) has added Lydecker Senior Partner Richard Lydecker as member to its Board of Directors. Lydecker was selected by a Nominating Committee comprised of Miami DDA board members who reviewed submissions from several candidates. The nomination was approved by the full Board of Directors, as well as the City of Miami Commission.

“We are pleased to have Richard join the board of the Miami Downtown Development Authority. As a long-time downtown Miami business owner and community advocate, he will be an asset in enhancing the DDA’s work and furthering our mission,” said Marc D. Sarnoff, City of Miami Commissioner and Chairman of the Board of the Miami DDA.

Richard Lydecker is a founding partner of the law firm Lydecker. Under Mr. Lydecker’s leadership, the firm has grown by more than 50 percent over the past three years and recently moved into more expansive offices at 1221 Brickell Avenue Office Tower. He has a diverse and extensive background in the general practice of civil litigation, mainly concentrating in the areas of commercial litigation, insurance defense, professional liability, first amendment, and media litigation. Richard is chairman of the Miami Dade Democratic Party and a member of the Federal Judicial Nominating committee which nominates candidates to the President of the United States for appointments to the Federal Bench and the US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.

The Miami DDA is an independent agency of the City of Miami funded by a special tax levy on properties in its district boundaries. It is governed by a 15-member Board comprised of three public appointees and 12 downtown property owners, residents and/or workers who are tasked with overseeing the direction of the agency and setting policy. The agency is committed to grow, strengthen and promote the economic health and vitality of downtown Miami. As an autonomous agency of the City of Miami, the Miami DDA advocates, facilitates, plans, and executes business development, planning and capital improvements, and marketing and communication strategies.
