Janice Lopez is an Associate Attorney at Lydecker’s Miami office. Ms. Lopez practices primarily in first and third party insurance defense.
Ms. Lopez is from Washington Heights in New York City. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a minor in Global Health. While at Cornell, Ms. Lopez was involved in research on reducing teen pregnancy rates in the Dominican Republic and maternal mortality rates among indigenous teenagers in Chiapas, Mexico. Prior to attending law school, she interned with International Service for Human Rights, where she advocated for human rights activists that faced reprisals for their work, and submitted briefings to the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights on the situation of human rights defenders.
Ms. Lopez received her Juris Doctorate from American University Washington College of Law, where she was a staff member of the American University Business Law Review. She graduated cum laude, with Exceptional Service Honors for completing over 175 hours of pro-bono service. Ms. Lopez was a Student Attorney with the Entrepreneurship Law Clinic, and worked as a Teaching Assistant for Regulation of Emerging Robotics, Business Associations, International Business Transactions, and Contracts. While in law school, she submitted an advisory opinion to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights on States’ obligations under international law to women in prison that are pregnant or breastfeeding.
She interned for the Honorable Judge Timothy Kelly at the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
